CUSTOM FRAMING
Marsha’s Art & Frame carries hundreds of picture frame mouldings from all around the world. Even though we carry many unique frames, you can count on us for basics too, such as traditional oak designs and colored wood and metal frames.

CUSTOM MATTING
There are many different types of matting available, including solid colors, textures, fabrics, faux finishes, marbleized finishes, etc. But the most important aspect to determine is, does the matting need to provide protection to the art, does it need to be conservation framed to maintain either monetary or sentimental value? Matting serves two important functions in the framing process:

Matting adds a colored border around the artwork to enhance certain colors that you may want to draw out of the artwork. This can be a stepping process into the artwork when multiple mats are used. A neutral colored mat may be used as the outside border then a small accent color is used on the inside opening of the outside mat. Another embellishment that can be added in lieu of an accent mat is a fillet. This is a decorative wood insert that helps tie the frame and matting to the art. You can see how it is used in both images.
The matting also serves as a protective barrier to separate the glass from the artwork itself creating an air space to minimize the damaging effects of moisture should it condense on the inside of the glass. This is of the utmost concern when conservation framing is required.

COLLAGE MATTING
A specialty mat that we are known for is our ability to create beautiful collage / montage mats for your pictures and art objects. These types of mats are usually used when you want to display a grouping of pictures or art objects together where more than one opening must be cut into the mat. Placement of pictures and objects is critical not only for balance but to tell a necessary story that these represent. JERSEY FRAMING
Have a favorite sports jersey laying around? Get it framed! We've framed hundreds of jerseys for local professional teams and private collectors. The craft of professional jersey framing in high-quality custom frames is a difficult one. It is a very labor intensive process that requires very skillful and precise ironing and pinning of the jersey if the framing is to stand the test of time. In particular, the pinning must be done very carefully using specially designed stainless steel framing pins that not only will secure the jersey to the matte but will also not damage the jersey in any way.

NEEDLEWORK
Many frame shops dislike framing needle art because of the greater amount of time required doing a quality job. Since we opened for business in 1982 we have framed thousands of needle art projects including, counted cross stitch, needle point, crewel, tapestries and even latch hook rugs. Needle art must be conservation framed, which means that all materials that touch the art must not do damage to the art and preserve it in the best means possible.

CANVAS TRANSFER
Canvas transfers are an exciting new trend in the art and framing world. This process mounts the art onto a canvas to give it an original feeling. Canvas transfers are terrific on classic impressionism art, but can also look great on contemporary art as well. The wonderful advantage of a canvas transfer is that the art can then be framed with out glass giving it an original look. The canvas transfer process also gives your artwork additional durability. The protective varnish helps prevent fading and water damage.

CANVAS STRETCHING
Stretched canvas refers to a canvas that has been mounted onto a stretcher bar support framework in preparation for framing or hanging. These are the same frameworks that artists use to stretch canvases for original canvas art.

CUSTOM CUT MIRRORS
Mirrors make magical gifts framed to accent any decor. We can help you choose a frame style to enhance your room or you can choose from our intriguing selection of pre-framed mirrors in a variety of sizes and styles. Mirrors can be ordered to any custom size and framed in many different frame combinations. The mirrors can be plain or beveled edge. The additional benefit of a mirror is that it makes the room appear larger.

PLEXIGLASS
On larger photographs and artwork, plexiglass is a great alternative to glass and a great way to preserve your artwork. Plexiglass offers excellent clarity and better impact resistance than glass. Similar to glass, plexiglass is available in regular, non glare, uv regular, and uv non glare.

DRY MOUNTING
Dry mounting is a permanent mounting process where the art is glued to a mounting board, using heat and pressure. The mounting board is a foam core board. A tissue type adhesive is placed between the art and the mounting board. This combination is then inserted into a vacuum press and heated up to activate the adhesive while the press applies pressure. As a general rule, valuable prints, autographs, or artwork should not be dry mounted as after the process it is no longer in its original state.
